WWE 2K16 Gamescom Details Revealed: Screenshots, Mode Improvements, And More

August 6, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The game is getting a definitive overhaul across the board.

2K Sports has revealed new details for WWE 2K16 just in time for Gamescom.

The 120 character roster so far includes Superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Bad News Barrett, Paige, and Finn Bálor, with the Terminator joining as preorder content. WWE also explained the roster won’t just have WWE and NXT wrestlers, but also Hall of Famers, and WWE alumni from other eras. So, don’t expect Robocop to join the T-800 soon, but William the Refrigerator Perry and Lawrence Taylor are actually viable.

2K Showcase will be back, and will include objectives to unlock legendary characters, entrance and ring gear, match types and unlockables. MyCareer has also been expanded, giving you a chance to train, compete, perfect their interviews, interrupt rivals and form tag teams.

Expanding on classic CAW modes of old, the Creation Suite lets you Create a Diva, Create a Championship, Create an Arena, and Create a Show. WWE Universe has been improved, and will allow you to assign Superstars to multiple shows. Online has also been improved, with more options and improved matchmaking.

In terms of gameplay, WWE 2K16 gets more simlike, with more variations to attack positions, new reversals, chain wrestling, and pins, and a new working holds system that lets you raise your stamina while depleting your opponents.

WWE 2K16 Jukebox will give fans the chance to assign their favorite song to their favorite Superstar as his or her entrance theme.

Finally, other enhancements are coming to AI, more match types, ring entrances, commentary, broadcasting presentation system, and visual upgrades.

Gamescom also gives us screenshots for Stone Cold Steve Austin, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Bad News Barrett, and Finn Balor, which you can check out below.

WWE 2K16 will be released on October 27, 2015 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
