There have been some rumors surrounding this game recently, and the Abandoned director has now spoken out about his concerns over the game’s release, why the developers deleted certain tweets about the game recently, and the status of the game as it currently stands.
In a recent interview, the director of the game, Hasan Kahraman of Blue Box Game Studios, spoke about how the developers have actively removed specific tweets regarding the game, but the reason isn’t as cryptic as you might think. “The tweets were deleted because we need to keep the content up to date; the concept has changed and this made me think that deleting the tweets, and then tweeting more relevant information was the better option – which turned out to be wrong,” said Kahraman.
Kahraman went on to say, “Even if the information or concept has changed, it is best to keep the old information so people can see the difference themselves.” Obviously, fans saw this deleted news and began piecing things together, thinking the worst about the game; was it a scam, or was it canceled? It was neither of these, just a minor mistake from the creator which was the catalyst for the original rumors.
The next topic of discussion was to do with the game’s prologue, with the Abandoned director going on to say that even with all the widespread assumption, this would not be a demo, but more of a “standalone game” with its own price tag and list of trophies – here’s hoping the price tag is a little on the low side then. Kahraman said, “The revenue collected from the Prologue will actually be used to fund the development of the main game, technically we are self-funding this game”. We’re not sure that is the definition of ‘self-funding’ but whatever you say.
The lack of news surrounding the game has also concerned some people out there, but Kahraman talked about the reasoning behind this choice as well, because he was “scared”. “The reason why people haven’t seen anything about the development yet is that I’m scared. I don’t work for one of the big companies, where they tell you what game to make. Not everyone will understand this development process, or what ‘in development’ means. Gamers only care about what they’re seeing at that exact moment, so I’m caught between two ideas of what to do in terms of revealing information,” said Kahraman.
This is a story that is getting a fair bit of coverage at the minute, so this surely won’t be the last time you hear about Abandoned or its outspoken director, Hasan Kahraman, so stay tuned for more updates about this game.
