Roblox Has Improved Its Explorer With Key Quality-Of-Life Changes

April 4, 2025 by Todd Black

So, what’s new here?

A lot of our posts about Roblox recently have been about the various changes that have been going on within the game itself, including the very code that helps design every tool that you use. When it comes right down to it, the dev team has been making numerous changes since the turn of the year so that players can have a better experience overall. Some of the changes have been to things like the online marketplace, and others have been to the creation tools that player teams use to make their content. Others, though, have been more quality-of-life in nature.

That includes the latest update, which has to do with the “Explorer” features that the team promised to make a while back. A new dev post was made to highlight the changes, and the team made it clear what improvements were made:

“We’re excited to announce that performance upgrades and quality-of-life improvements for the Explorer, currently in beta, are now rolling out to everyone. With the new Explorer, you can build much larger places without worrying about lags, hangs, or crashes, and it will be quicker and easier to manage instances in the explorer. Since our beta release, we’ve been working hard to incorporate your feedback and are excited to release the new explorer more broadly.”

If you want a little more detail on what they did, the Roblox crew went deep into that on another page, but they also noted:

“In short, we’ve rebuilt the Explorer in Luau with a much more performant architecture, allowing you to manage millions of instances without Explorer being a bottleneck. We’ve also added tons of quality-of-life improvements, including better selection highlighting, hierarchy lines, an overhauled context menu, and better drag and drop, to name a few.”

Going back to the beta that the team referenced, they noted that pretty much every bug that was there when the beta happened has been fixed, showing just how important the beta was and how players helped make things better. The few remaining issues are ones that they’re planning on working on over time and hope to fix in due time.

Just as important, more updates to the Explorer features will come later in the year. So you can expect the service to be even better as time goes on.

Given all that the dev team is working on right now, it’s nice to know that we’re seeing such improvements across all aspects of the game. Hopefully, players will use them to the fullest.
