Some of you may recall Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare teaser Grass Effect, a mash-up with BioWare's Mass Effect franchise, and now that teaser is becoming a reality in Garden Warfare 2.
Those who pre-order the game will unlock the special 'Z7' character who comes with a Mass Effect assault rifle and armour.
EA also revealed a new mode for the game called Backyard Battleground, which is a hub world that allows players to connect with friends, compare achievements, and see each others' collectibles. It's also easier to jump into game from this hub.
The publisher said that one of the most requested features for a new Garden Warfare game was the ability to play alone and so Garden Warfare 2 will come with a solo mode. Couch co-op is also supported.
Three new plant classes were also revealed. Colonel Corn can call in airstrikes, Rose has the ability to cast spells which turn zombies into animals, and there's an orange class which rolls around and strikes enemies.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 launches in 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
