Capcom has interest in developing a remake for Resident Evil 2, also known as Biohazard 2 in Japan.
The highly requested title may be in the works at the Japanese studio after Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi revealed on the official Resident Evil facebook page that he was presenting his ideas for a remake of the game to the rest of the company.
"Right after the [Resident Evil] HD Remaster project was finished, I actually started putting together my ideas for this 'RE2 Project,'" he said. "So, I just brushed it up and went to see my boss to present the basic concept of the project already."
Capcom's R&D Division 1 posed a question to fans earlier this week if they would be interested in playing a Resident Evil 2 remake. The response was largely positive.
Hirabayashi has a lot of experience in working on the franchise, having contributed to Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6, and the GameCube remake of Resident Evil.
Given the success of Resident Evil HD and the heightened anticipation for Resident Evil Zero HD, a remake for Resident Evil 2 seems like a foregone conclusion.
