Those desperate for more New World story content will need to be patient–but only for a short while. The game’s March update was originally scheduled to go live today, but the launch has been postponed until tomorrow, March 30, due to an unforeseen bug. This sad news was announced on Twitter earlier today.
The update, titled Heart of Madness, has been available on New World’s public test server for weeks. For those who are more on the lore-hungry side, it will conclude the main storyline. Skimming the patch notes, it claims that the updated Heart of the Tempest quest is “an endgame expedition for 5 players. Recommended for level 60 players with Gearscores between 550 and 570.”
A new weapon, the Blunderbuss, will also be added. The hefty gun will allow for “high-mobility coupled with potent close-to-mid range damage,” and the two classes most fitting to wield it are mages and bruisers. This is due to it being “the first weapon to scale on strength and intelligence.”
Plenty of new experiences are also set to be added, including new roadside encounters and vista views–the latter will allow players to interact with two easels in each territory. Upon doing so, they will receive a painting to hang in their house.
Quality of life fixes coming tomorrow include double storage in all storage chests, better trophy descriptions, and only equipped items losing durability after a player’s death. Fast travel will also be more responsive when traveling over short distances. As one would expect, a bevy of bug fixes are expected with the update.
New World is currently available for the PC. A massive January 2022 update promised to add tons of new content to the often struggling MMO, but instead, a slew of new bugs rendered the game nearly unplayable. Earlier this month, Amazon Games shared the 2022 roadmap for New World, but many are wondering if the game can be salvaged after so many missteps.
