Elden Ring Glitch Makes Some Dogs Incredibly Lethal

March 28, 2022 by Dani Cook

Have been brought down by these formidable dogs?

The Lands Between in Elden Ring is inhabited by a wide variety of lethal creatures, ready to take a player’s tarnished life at the first chance they get. However, a glitch is causing one creature to be so overpowered, it is close to the most dangerous enemy in the game: the Rotten Stray. These bloody dogs can be found in different areas throughout the game, but a particularly formidable variation of the creature in Atlus Plateau’s Wrtitheblood Ruins is proving particularly difficult to take down. A bug is causing its biting attack to trigger a bleed effect that is easily killing players who let their guards down.

The Bleed status effect in Elden Ring slowly builds up through repeated hits and can quickly deplete a player’s health once it reaches a certain threshold. Because it builds up after several blows, it’s not something that should take a player by surprise, that is unless they’ve encountered these Rotten Stray dogs. These Writheblood Ruins hounds have an overwhelming ability to trigger Bleed seemingly from their first bite, making them near impossible to take down. YouTuber Flame of Ambition posted a video demonstrating this cumbersome glitch, check out the fearsome beasts below.

The YouTube video clearly shows something is seriously wrong with these Rotten Strays. Their normal attacks seem to work fine, but the bug is evident in their combo hits which seem to result in far too many hits at once. Further proof that this issue is present can be heard by the overlapping sound effects that play during an attack and which result in the rapid bleed build-up. As shown in the video, even players with maxed-out vitality and endurance, as well as heavy-duty armor can be taken down by these dogs in less than two hits.

Elden Ring has received several updates since its launch and it seems the ambitious game has a few more kinks to iron out. Check out this souls-like RPG on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
