As you might have heard, CD Projekt Red has announced the release of a New Game Plus mode as part of its 16-part DLC program for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The news might have you wondering exactly what this mode entails.
If you aren't already familiar with the term "New Game Plus," it's a common feature in Japanese games where players who complete the game can import their characters from their first run through to experience the game all over again in a new difficulty setting with new challenges and even story content.
CD Projekt Red's community manager Marcin Momot has taken to the game's official forums to clarify exactly what New Game Plus mode entails in The Witcher 3. He revealed the following details:
- Players starting the New Game Plus mode with a character level lower than 30 will be automatically boosted to 30. If your character level is higher than 30, it will be imported as such.
- You can re-select your difficulty level and earn trophies and achievements relating to the difficulty level, provided you do not change it in-game.
- Quest items, books & letters, usable items, and trophies will not carry over. Every other item in your inventory, including weapons, armor, and reagents will carry over to the new game. Your collection of Gwent cards will not carry over.
- You will get a free Clearing Potion at the start of the game to reallocate all your skill points for free.
There's no release date for the mode yet, as the developers are still working on it.
