Square’s Dragon Quest stream has revealed, not just Dragon Quest XI, but several upcoming Dragon Quest games, coming to mobile, 3DS, and as Yujii Horii hinted at several times, PlayStation. Most of them have only been confirmed for Japan.
Dragon Quest XI itself was confirmed for both the 3DS and PlayStation 4, confirming a rumor early today. Square themselves started the stream by alluding to a leak. Producer Yosuke Saito was on hand to confirm these platforms.
The PlayStation 4 version of Dragon Quest XI runs on Unreal Engine 4.
They started the stream by discussing three smartphone games, Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light, Dragon Quest: Monster Parade, and Dragon Quest of the Stars. There will also be a port of Dragon Quest 3 for mobile on the way.
Dragon Quest Builders, which is billed as a direct sequel to the very first Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior, will be releasing on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 this winter. Soon after will be Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 on 3DS, which will allow you to ride any monster.
Regarding Dragon Quest Heroes, the first game will be released in the West this October, while Japan is getting the sequel in spring 2016.
And now, for a surprise; Dragon Quest X, already released on Wii, Wii U, Windows, and 3DS, will be coming to PlayStation 4. Even if this never hits stateside, for players outside Japan, this may finally be the opportunity to play the game, by virtue of the console allowing you to register different regions. Of course, the same is true ofDragon Quest XI as well.
