Hogwarts Legacy Will Reportedly Cost $70 / £70 On PS5 & Xbox Series X|S

March 22, 2022 by Dani Cook

There will most likely be no last-gen upgrade option.

A new report from VGC states that the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy will potentially retail for $70 / £70 on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It also seems that there will be no upgrade option for gamers who purchase the Harry Potter RPG on last-gen consoles.

The major American retailers, Best Buy and GameStop will sell Hogwarts Legacy for $69.99 on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, while the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions will retail for $59.99. Harry Potter fans in the UK are slightly worse off as the major British game store, GAME will sell Hogwarts Legacy for £69.99 ($92) on next-gen consoles and £59.99 ($79) on Xbox One and PS4. UK retailer Smyths Toys will likewise sell Hogwarts Legacy for £59.99 on next-gen consoles but the last-gen version will be slightly cheaper than GAME at £54.99. It is pretty amazing that stores know their pricing for the game before Warner Bros. has even given fans a firm release date though.

Gamers hoping to purchase Hogwarts Legacy digitally still have a while to wait on price details as the PlayStation and Xbox Store don’t have pre-orders available yet. In addition to this, Xbox users are still waiting to hear whether the Hogwarts RPG will support Smart Delivery. If so, switching the game between an Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S will be miles easier. Although, VGC reports that this is unlikely as GameStop’s “box art for Hogwarts Legacy simply shows ‘Xbox One’ on the last-gen box and ‘Xbox Series X’ on the current-gen box.”

Unfortunately, Warner Bros. has yet to reveal a release date for Hogwarts Legacy and has simply given the time frame of Q4 2022. However when it does launch, it will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Keep an eye out for more news on the highly-anticipated game as the end of 2022 draws nearer!
