UPDATE: This article has been updated with correct information about MCPE and the Windows 10 Edition of Minecraft, both of which support custom skins.
Minecraft is coming to Windows 10 through the Windows Store in a special "Windows 10 Edition". If you already own the game for the PC and Mac, you'll want to give this version a miss. I'll explain why in a bit.
Microsoft is offering the option to pick up Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition through its own digital storefront.
Responding to questions from a fan, Microsoft's Mike Ybarra confirmed on Twitter that the Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition will offer achievements for players to collect.
@opticon9 Yes, Minecraft will have achievements on Windows 10.

Additionally, the Pocket Edition of the game be updated to run parallel to the Windows 10 version of Minecraft. Here's what Mojang had to say on the matter:
"I'm going to say this because the drama is already too much: Windows 10 Edition is MCPE, and will always be updated together with it!"
"That means that MCPE is going to get a lot of features, and that Win10 and MCPE players will be able to play together :)"
MCPE and the Windows 10 Edition are basically the same thing, and they probably won't include support for mods or player-created skins. If you're on Windows, you'll want to pick up the real version of the game directly from Mojang.
