It has come to light that Hideo Kojima dropped hints that he could be leaving Konami and the Metal Gear franchise in the Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zeroes, in the form of some vague goodbyes.
In fact, everything about the Déjà vu missions appears to be a warning. For this mission, you need to find the logos of various Metal Gear games all around the map. When you put the logos through a UV light, they disappear.
That is, the games that were produced and/or directed by Kojima have their logos disappear. Non-Kojima Metal Gear games, such as Metal Gear Arcade or Metal Gear Acid, do not disappear.
Now, here is the most interesting thing. As you remove these logos, this message will come up mid mission and at the end:
You might be able to erase the markings, but the memories will never disappear.
The tone and demeanor of the entire Déjà vu mission ending does seem to indicate cessation of sorts, on a game sold as a demo of another upcoming game.
Do you think Kojima deliberately left clues to his departure inMetal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zeroes? Do you think he knew this was the direction his tenure at Konami was going much earlier? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
