Microsoft will not be bringing the Xbox One to the annual Tokyo Game Show in September, as the company has other plans for the Japanese market.
Speaking to Famitsu, Microsoft Japan’s Masayuki Inoue said the company will “deliver the latest Xbox news to fans and media” in another way.
“We will provide an update as soon as we can,” he added.
TGS 2015 runs from September 17th to 20th at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. What Microsoft's alternative plans are is a mystery but Xbox sales have always been bleak in Japan, and the Xbox One's numbers seem particularly grim.
Sony will almost certainly be in attendance at TGS but is skipping Europe's biggest gaming convention, gamescom, in August in favour of a media briefing at the Paris Game Show in October.
