Allison Road is a horror game that bears a striking resemblance to P.T., last year’s “playable teaser” for Konami’s Silent Hills, and is being developed by Lilith Ltd., a team of six people in London, England.
The game was approved on Steam Greenlight, the community-based service where users vote on which games they believe deserve a chance to be distributed through Steam, in roughly 42 hours. Here is the full description of the game by the developer:
You will take on the role of the unnamed protagonist who wakes up one day without any recollection of prior events.
Over the course of five nights, it is your objective to uncover the whereabouts of your family, unravel the mysteries of the house, and face off against [dark entities] that are nested deep within the house, while the clock is relentlessly ticking towards 3:00am.
What would you do if you could feel something stalking you in the dark in the safety of your own home?
If you couldn’t tell what’s real and what’s not?
If any of that has you excited to see the game in action, fear not, Lilith Ltd. released a 13-minute gameplay demo of Allison Road in its pre-alpha stage, which you can view below:
As if the spirit of P.T. wasn’t alive and well in that gameplay video, the developer has doubled down and said, in an effort to avoid spoilers for the game, the above video is not from the final game.
“These 13 minutes have been put together by our small team of six (that's including SFX & Music) to showcase where the development of the game is at and to give you a feel for the vibe that we're going for,” the video’s description reads. “In order to do that without spoiling any of the story we decided to separate it from the actual game, so while this is real gameplay it's not what you'll see in the full version of the game.”
Some mechanics were not ready in time for this gameplay video, such as the inventory system, which will be implemented in the future. However, throughout the video, the protagonist does pick up and put back down several items, including magazines and medicine. Interestingly, there is a moment where the protagonist picks up a meat cleaver with a description reading, “Q to equip Meat Cleaver,” possibly suggesting combat will be an element of the gameplay (however, that is pure speculation).
As mentioned, Allison Road is on Steam Greenlight and is in development for PC, as well as optional Oculus Rift support.
