Ace Combat: Assault Horizon isn't just about flying an airplane and blowing up swarms of weak enemy aircraft over the New York City skyline. Taking place in the "real world" this time around, the latest Ace Combat title take players to places like East Africa, where the following ten-minute video is set.
In the demoed mission, the player takes on the role of an Apache gunship pilot who provides cover fire for an LZ in an East African town. The pilot has to dodge ground fire from numerous technicals and terrorists armed with high caliber machine guns and RPGs. The player is flanked by supporting gunships while escorting allied ground forces.
It's nothing at all like what happens in real life, as hordes of bad guys fly straight into the meatgrinder, but it's still fun to watch—and presumably even more fun to actually play.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is set for an October 11 worldwide release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
A second video shows off a fly-through of a coastal American city under attack.
