Game modder, Speclizer released a video revealing their upcoming mod of God of War which allows gamers to play as Atreus instead of his father, Kratos. Speclizer is famous in the gaming community for his videos and mods for popular titles such as The Last of Us Part II, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and more. Check out the Atreus mod in the video below.
The new God of War mod demonstrated in the video shows young Atreus taking charge, attempting to defeat Baldur, the fire troll Brenna Doudi, and a few other foes. Speclizer’s mod will let players use Atreus in a way that is not possible in the original game, allowing the character to be more of a fighter than is usual.
As Speclizer admits in the video’s comment section, “at the moment it is clearly not the smoothest experience. I still need to put a lot more work into the mod to get it to a stage where it works flawlessly.” While the video does have Atreus glide around the screen rather than running while in battle, it is still plain to see a lot of skill has been required to get the mod to this point. One comical part of the video looks as if Kratos crushes his son with a massive boulder, but it will definitely be interesting to see where Speclizer takes this mod from here.
While is obvious that the mod is still a work in progress, it is objectively impressive and several of the YouTuber’s viewers seem to feel the same. YouTube account ‘p m’ said, “This is sick, just thinking about how it’ll be even better later down the road when it’s polished.” While Guccii_daddyy said, “Can’t wait too see what crazy shit you can do with games in the next few years you already don’t disappoint.”
God of War was released in April 2018 and it is still going strong. Stay tuned to find out when this PC mod is available.
