Diablo 3’s upcoming update, patch 2.3.0, will be arriving on public test realms (servers) soon and will bring with it a slew of updates, including a new zone to explore, a new artifact, changes to crafting, and more.
The new zone in question is called the Ruins of Sescheron. It is described by Blizzard as a “frozen wasteland” where players will fight new enemies and uncover new information and lore about the Barbarians. Clearing this new zone will grant access to the lost Tomb of King Kanai “and his ultimate treasure – Kanai’s Cube.”
Kanai’s Cube is an item much like Diablo 2’s Horadric Cube, which allowed players to combine items together. Kanai’s Cube will allow players to “break down Legendary items and equip their special effects as passive skills (which are separate from your other passive skills), convert crafting materials from one type to another, and so much more.”
The crafting system in Diablo 3 will be receiving somewhat of an overhaul in 2.3.0. The main change being made to the system is that no matter what level crafting materials are gathered at, they will still be of use at max level. The number of crafting recipes will also be reduced and results will “dynamically adjust to your character’s level.”
Those looking for an added challenge will be happy to know that four new difficulty modes will be introduced: Torment VII, VIII, IX, and X.
