Clancy's The Division will not have a companion app, Ubisoft has confirmed.
A spokesperson for Massive Entertainment told IGN that the game's development team axed the companion app because it "created an imbalance" which compromised gameplay. Like many games announced in 2013, The Division's app was announced alongside the game.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate is another Ubisoft game which will not have a companion app this year.
In The Division's case, the app was intended to allow a player using a tablet to assist or harass other players within the game. For instance, the players would be able to control drones and provide armour buffs to players on console.
The Division will have a beta on Xbox One this year, and one on PC and PS4 in early 2016. Tom Clancy's The Division launches on March 8th, 2016.
