Firewatch Is A Seemingly Mundane Open World Game (With Secrets) For PS4

June 15, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

You’ll spend a lot of the game doing mundane things in a seeming open world, but there is a broader mystery to solve too.

Campo Santo and Panic have an intriguing new title, Firewatch, revealed today for the PlayStation 4.

The game is open world and in first person perspective, and seems to put you in the mundane role of a park firewatch. You are in constant contact with a woman in HQ, who seems to favor you over your coworkers.

Much of the trailer shows you doing mundane firewatch things, such as exploring caves, destroying trees, and rescuing wildlife. Thanks to presentation and some humorous banter, Campo Santo makes a convincing case that this could be fun for an open world game. However, there are also hints of a broader plot involving missing girls and a person who’s taken over your post. You can check out the teaser trailer above.
