The third and long-awaited installment of the Max Payne franchise has finally been given a release date by its publishers at Rockstar.
Dated for a March 2012 release, Max Payne 3 picks up after the second game, and follows Max Payne's journey to Brazil where he earns his keep for a private security company. Under the employment of a wealthy Brazilian industrialist in Sao Paolo, Payne takes on a number of gangs whose only interest is in seeing his client dead.
"Max Payne 3 gave us an amazing creative opportunity to evolve one of our most iconic characters," said Rockstar's Sam Houser. "We're excited to show fans a modern version of Max that pulls them back into his dark and twisted story."
The series returns with its signature slow-motion bullet time ability and adds ten years and a whole lot of baldness to Max Payne's already cracked personality.
Max Payne 3 will be the first title in the series to offer multiplayer combat, replete with a reward and leveling system, clans, and strategic load-out options.
