Toy Soldiers: War Chestis Signal Studios’ newest addition to its award-winning strategy+tower defense franchise, Toy Soldiers. It looks a lot more kid-friendly, even though it’s still got a Teen rating from the ESRB for all the violence the toys get put through.
War Chestis a touch more Toy Story than its predecessors, which focused on real-world reenactment, and it looks like it will be just as fun, if not more so. Signal seems to have thrown in a lot more color, with corresponding characters. It even hints at an all-star roster, thanks to this reveal video:
Yes, that is He-Man and Battle Cat, accompanied by the warriors of Eternia. And yes, that is Duke from G.I. Joe, looking slightly creepy, but still very determined to lead the Joes into battle. The other armies are the Star Power army, with the vicious Bunny Bears, Ponies, and Pixies being led by Starbright; the German Empire forces led by Kaiser; the Black Dragon army led by Dark Lord; and the Ghost Company led by Phantom.
Signal Studios says that two more licensed armies will be announced before the game’s launch. Who could they be? Is there any toy in particular that you think would fit right in this game?
The toys of your childhood are coming out to play, but they’re not going to play very nice. Originally scheduled for release in Early 2015, Toy Soldiers: War Chest has been pushed back a couple of months for a Summer 2015 release and will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
