Medieval Engineers, the fantastic medieval engineering game-slash-simulator from Keen Software has been updated with a brand new mode that allows two teams of players to select a map with a castle and defend (or attack) the King statue hidden within.
The mode is appropriately called Castle Siege and sees teams of players participating in siege warfare. One team must erect defenses to defend the King statue while the attacking team builds siege weapons to attack directly, or ladders to go over the castle walls. Attackers can even play as sappers to dig under the castle and invade it from within.
The whole thing is still a work-in-progress that's slated to expand and grow with the game as it develops. According to the devs, the mode has been created to introduce a fast-paced proving ground for the players' castle designs and also increase the action.
In the upcoming weeks, the devs will add more weapons, armor, and a better combat system that includes ranged weapons. They are also planning to enable some survival features in Castle Siege, making it the mode to play.
Further details about the mode and the developer's plans can be found at their official blog.
