Developed by Splash Damage and published by Nexon America, the publisher’s first free-to-play FPS developed for a western audience Dirty Bomb is now in open beta on Steam.
Dirty Bomb features squad-based combat from the first person perspective in an arena setting that is set in a futuristic, dystopian London. Players will be able to choose from several different “Mercs” with unique abilities and perks to play as. Two of those Mercs will always be free: Combat Medic Aura and Fire-Support Specialist Skyhammer. Currently the open beta features 12 Mercs, with three Mercs in a free rotation:
- Kira, a powerful tactical character who can rain down hell from above with her Orbital Laser Strike, perfect for clearing out defenses and campers
- Sawbonez, a frontline support medic equipped with a Submachine Gun and Defibrillator Paddles, who is highly effective at reviving his teammates to full health
- Fragger, an aggressive pointman and straight-up player-slayer, with a big gun, lots of ammo, and devastating Frag grenades
Additional Mercs are available for purchase.
Two modes are currently available in open beta with more content to be added in the future.
Dirty Bomb was announced in 2012 via a teaser trailer that set a very different tone from what can be seen in the video above. Recently, Dirty Bomb also went through a closed beta.
