Gauntlet is Alive, New Content Update In Development

May 25, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new content update for Gauntlet is on the way.

Arrowhead Game Studios, the makers of Helldivers and Magicka, released the Gauntlet reboot last year, resurrecting a classic series with modern day gameplay while retaining some, but not all of the qualities that made the original game enjoyable. We reviewed it here.

In the months following the game's release, the developers have been quietly working on a free content update that's set to bring a coat of shine to the game, with the aim of fixing certain qualities of the game that the developers were unhappy with.

Posting on the developer's blog, game director Emil Englund wrote:

"In truth, we were never fully satisfied with how Gauntlet turned out. So, rather than just fixing little things here and there, we have been working on the core of the game to turn it into what we originally envisioned.

"This will mean a free major content update for the game, including improvements to the Campaign and the Colosseum as well as a brand new game mode."

Additionally, the studio notes that community matters will be handled directly by Arrowhead now, rather than Warner Bros.
