In 13 minutes of an unedited match from “an early version” of Overwatch, Blizzard shows off another character in the growing roster of its upcoming competitive first-person shooter: McCree.
The video shows McCree taking shots every which way from his revolver on the Watchpoint: Gibraltar map. Watchpoint: Gibraltar is a “Payload” style map, one of Overwatch’s game modes.
McCree, equipped with a revolver named “Peacekeeper” and a quick draw, is a typical cowboy that you might imagine from old Clint Eastwood movies. McCree’s special abilities include a combat roll that allows him to dive in the direction he is moving while reloading his gun, a flashbang he can use to blind his enemies, and his ultimate ability, known as Deadeye, which allows him to line up a shot on everyone in his field of vision.
Last week, a similar gameplay video was released of a medic-type character named Mercy.
Overwatch was announced on November 7, 2014 at BlizzCon and is known to be a repurposing of work done on the now-cancelled MMO Project Titan that had long been in development by Blizzard. A closed beta is scheduled for some time in 2015. You can sign up here for said beta.
