Amazon had some initial trouble getting a big game out into the marketplace. However, they managed to turn things around with the launch of New World. This new MMORPG was a massive hit initially, and it even resulted in Amazon increasing its servers for the video game. So many players were flocking to this game that it seemed like a major title to stick around. But, of course, now that it’s been out for a short while, we have seen reports suggesting the game was seeing an exodus of players.
One of the reasons why players might have dropped out from the game is the economic woes. There is a problem with the in-game currency or lack of it. Players were having a tough time dealing with the limited available gold, which prompted some major exploits to pop up. While the game was finding players leaving, they were also finding quite a few working the game towards their favor. Several exploits started to pop up, such as farming dungeons to even duplicating gold.
Naturally, any exploit found online for MMORPG titles is quickly addressed. However, with New World being such a popular game, several issues were showing up. Developers had their work cut out for them. To stop the flood of exploits dealing with gold, the studio stopped all trades from continuing on. That’s now been addressed and brought back into the game, but it looks like it also came with a new wave of bans.
It’s reported that over 1,000 players popped online to find their accounts banned. The bans might only be for a few days, but it’s looking like if you exploited at all within the game, then the developers decided to strike back. For now, it’s a waiting game to see just how well this title holds up in the coming year. Meanwhile, you can check out our Before You Buy episode coverage of the game in the video embedded above.
