GTA Online is undergoing a crisis of sorts on PC due to large scale cheating affecting the gameplay experience for everyone.
As this report asserts, cheaters are basically using overpowered mods and trainers, that give them a considerable advantage over other players. Some fans just blatantly activate god mode, but there are other uses, such as making guns that shoot money, flying with a car, using low gravity, etc. Some uses of these cheats are certainly interesting, but by virtue of playing at an advantage, cheaters make the game that less fun for players who aren’t using cheats.
And, of course, some cheats affect players directly, such as the infamous suicide cheat. This cheat allows the cheater to make any other player’s character commit suicide, outside of that player’s control.
Rockstar has been acting on the issue, but even that is problematic in itself. They have been banning players in waves, but not explaining the reasons for these bans. A notable number of players found that they all used FOV mods and got banned. When prompted about this further, Rockstar explained that cosmetic changes were not banned, but all mods are not supported. So, if a player installs one, they would have to uninstall them if they needed to go back to Rockstar for help.
Rockstar could mitigate the issue if they officially explained what mods will and will not constitute a ban, but they have yet to do so. What do you think Rockstar should do about this issue? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
