We have a preview of Star Wars Battlefront 3 from YouTuber BattlefrontUpdates â–º Star Wars Battlefront News. He got to see the trailer in advance, and he also got a private preview from DICE. You can subscribe to his channel here.
Now, the video has spoiler for the trailer, but if you are still trying to avoid such spoilers, or you have already seen it and just want the gameplay details, we will run them down, spoiler-free, below. Note that the trailer may also have gameplay details we will discuss below, which don’t really spoil the trailer’s narrative.
The trailer did reveal one gameplay detail; you will be able to switch between 1st and 3rd person perspective. In fact, you will be able to do this in game.
It will also have split screen local multiplayer for consoles. Both of these features were highly requested by fans, and DICE delivered.
The blasters the Rebels use can overheat if you use them too frequently. There are no ammo pickups or reload animations, but what you do have are cooldown periods. There is a bar in the UI that goes up when you fire, and goes down during cooldown, so you will know when your blaster can and cannot fire.
Aside from blasters, there are sniper rifles, grenades, missile launchers, jetpacks, and shields. The missile launcher is a special weapon, as a one time use pickup that causes huge damage.
The blaster beams seem color coded. In particular, a sniper in the trailer used green beams.
The minimap will be found in the lower left corner. It highlights where the enemy is coming from, as well as what direction they are firing. Note that you will only get general directions, and not their specific locations.
In the lower right corner are three slots for items you equip, and a fourth slot just for pickups.
One major spoiler below.
This was not in the trailer, but Bobba Fett was confirmed to be appearing in Star Wars Battlefront 3. It’s obvious that EA DICE will be using famous and recognizable characters for the game.
Star Wars Battlefront 3 will be released on November 17 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
