The latest-generation console platforms are incredibly popular. Fans want to get their hands on a unit. Unfortunately, since they launched last year, very few consumers are actually able to obtain a console. Like all significant console platform releases, these consoles were quickly in high demand. Fans waited for pre-orders and went to local retailers to acquire units. However, we’re in a pandemic which made a ton of new obstacles to overcome.
Sony and Microsoft were likely not able to produce as many units as they had liked initially. Then there’s the trouble getting units shipped out. This, added with quarantines which gave more people free time to enjoy entertainment, made these consoles incredibly tough to come by. So now we’re keeping an eye out for different restock announcements. While not official, we have reports suggesting Target will hold a restock for the PlayStation 5 on October 27, 2021.
This news comes from content creator Jake Randall who has also been keeping tabs on restock alerts. Again, this is not official, but the consensus is that Target was holding back on a restock to allow more units to be available. Now the plan is to keep an online-only restock for the PlayStation 5. We don’t have any time when this will happen, but it’s likely in the early morning hours. As a result, you’ll want to keep tabs open for Target’s website.
Additionally, if the rumor proves accurate, we will see these units as pick-up in-store only. That means you’ll have to purchase stock that’s available at a local Target rather than ordering a unit to be shipped. We’re not sure how long these shortages will last. With that said, it’s likely going to be tough getting consoles through the holiday season.
