Bungie still isn’t ready to discuss the full details or release date of the next Destiny update, but they did talk about core changes they are placing to the game, starting with ammo drops in PVP.
The team has been paying attention to feedback on the Crucible, and basically how chaotic it can be due to a surplus of available ammo. Their last update gave them the ability to adjust this, with a new system that manages ammo drops.
So now, Special Ammo spawns less frequently, on the fewer crates that pop up. They take longer to pick up and give you less ammo. There’s even a timer to pick it up from when it’s detected.
To manage behavior further, the drop radius for teammates has increased. What this means is even if you are a certain distance from the crate, if you’re within range of a teammate who picked it up, you’ll get your share of the ammo, and now you can be farther away from that teammate.
Bungie also promised two smaller changes that will make your gameplay experience more enjoyable and fun. So, one pet peeve is of Legendary and Exotic gear getting dismantled by accident frequently, particularly when other people get their hands on the keyboard. To rectify this, Bungie has added Item Locking to keep this from happening.
Lastly, there is a new option in the Settings menu to allow you to wear your helmets and basically show them off while playing in the Tower.
