Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void Patch 1.0 Notes Introduces New Units

April 2, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Each faction gets powerful new units that can make the difference in battle.

Blizzard has shared 1.0 patch notes for Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void as the beta goes live.  We previously noted the change in game speed to match real time speed, but Blizzard has also added new units to each faction.

The Terrans get Cyclone, a ranged factory unit which can lock on to enemies. It can strike enemies in the air and ground, and locking on increases their range and rate of fire.

The Zerg get the Ravager and the Lurker. The Ravager is a morph from the Roach, with higher stats. It also has the ability Corrosive Bile. Corrosive Bile acts like a mortar shot with an area of effect. It also has a delayed impact, powerful enough to hit air and ground units and deactivate force fields within range.

The Lurker is a tier 2 Siege unit that morphs from the Hydralisk. It needs a Lurker Den, and has to be burrowed. However, when it is set up it can pull off line based area of effect ground attacks.

Finally, the Protoss get the Adept and Disruptor. The Adept is a slow moving unit from the Gateway with a powerful ability called Psionic Transfer. This projects an invulnerable Psionic Image. It can move around, but it can’t attack, and after seven seconds, the Adept moves to the image’s location before starting over.

The Disruptor is a light unit from the Robotics Ability that can perform the Purification Nova. When the Nova is activated, the Disruptor becomes invulnerable and starts moving faster. The Disruptor attacks with a massive blast within four seconds. The attack deals circular area of effect damage to boot, but immediately after the attack it loses speed and becomes vulnerable again. Clearly, there is a lot of potential confounding enemies with the Adept and Disruptor used together.
