Fatal Frame 5 Confirmed For Wii U in North America

April 1, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

More details, including release dates and titles for US and Europe, will be revealed later.

Fatal Frame 5 has been confirmed for release in North America, exclusively for Wii U.

Known in Japan as Zero: Nuregarasu no Miko, which translates to Fatal Frame: Oracle of the Sodden Raven, Fatal Frame 5 will see you playing three characters, as you investigate a deeply haunted Mount Hikami.

You will switch between Yuuri Kozukata, an antique shop owner who has the ability to peer into the shadow world, Miu Hinasaki, who goes to the mountain to find her mother Miku, and Ren Hojo, an author with a long connection with Yuuri, and goes to the mountain on his own to research on a book he is writing. Ayane from the Dead or Alive series will also appear as a special playable guest character.

The game will use some interesting new systems. It will utilize the Soft Engine introduced in Dead or Alive 5 to help make more realistic skin and bodily effects on character’s bodies. The game will also feature a lot of water, and a special engine has been utilized for that as well.

Nintendo asks fans to wait for further news for now, but this merely confirms former Tecmo Koei developer Tomonobu Itagaki’s earlier claims that  the game would be releasing in the US.
