Metal Gear Solid is one of the most legendary game franchises of all-time. Hideo Kojima has said that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be the last of the series that sees his involvement. That said, he's made statements like this before and has always returned to the franchise. Sadly, Kojima can't be the deciding factor on whether or not there will be another entry into the series, as he doesn't own the intellectual property. Konami does, and they've made it very clear they intend to keep the series alive.
At any rate, Kojima helped in 2006 to announce the existence of a Metal Gear Solid movie. While no developments have surfaced in nearly a decade, the movie now has a writer. The man's name is Jay Basu and he has a small filmography under his belt. It could be said that the Metal Gear Solid movie could be his big break.
Here's some of the movies he's worked on, as listed on his IMDB page:
Metal Gear Solid (announced)
2014 Monsters: Dark Continent
2012 The Dinosaur Project (co-writer)
2012 Fast Girls (screenplay)
2005 Song of Songs
We at Gameranx have a deep love for the Metal Gear franchise, so here's to hoping the movie sees positive review whenever it debuts.
Thanks, NeoGAF.
