Battlefield Hardline Guide: How to Unlock Coins & Bounties, Service Stars, Battlepacks, and More

March 17, 2015 by Jacob Saylor

Having some trouble? Let us help.

If you're having Battlefield Hardline problems I feel bad for you son…

Battlefield: Hardline is a big game, but not so large that we'd say it's difficult to understand. That said, it can still take some time to acclimate to the game's environment, so let us help you learn the ins and outs.

Cash

In Battlefield: Hardline, cash is what you use to pay for new equipment, but you also earn a lot more cash by playing as a team. If you’re in the car with other team members during a Hotwire match you’ll earn more cash for your kills which results in bigger rewards. Hardline definitely rewards players who value teamwork.

Guns are expensive, so be careful. The price tag can sneak up on you quick.

Coins & Bounties

You’ll unlock special Coins and Bounties as you complete various tasks. Coins are awarded for accomplishing a number of in-game tasks or achievements.

Coins and Bounties each have a cap of 63, and Hardline has a player level cap of 160. You can work your way up through the ranks pretty quickly, but again – teamwork is key.

Patches

Patches do not have any value as far as statistical boosting. There are a ton of these vanity items, awarded for completing single-player objectives; some are reserved for subscribers and veterans.

Service Stars

Service stars are essentially upgraded versions of patches. They allow you access into different tiers of rewards, making character customization even more in-depth.

Battlepacks

Battlepacks come in three different tiers and offer a mixture of boosts, camo, weapons loadout slots and more. These are earned during the single player campaign and applied to multiplayer dealings. They can also be bought with in-game cash. The third option to acquire Battlepacks will require a lot of playtime in the multiplayer mode, but nothing that the veteran Battlefield player can't handle.

Assignments

Assignments are one of the larger aspects of Hardline multiplayer. They are comprised of long-term goals such as killing 500 players with the helicopter gun. There are tiered rewards here as well, which can help to unlock different service stars during your play sessions. There are also special "Syndicate" Assignments, which are more difficult versions of normal ones.
