Resident Evil Revelations 2 Pre-Order Bonus & Discounts

February 24, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Up to 22% off for the PC Steam version.

Tomorrow, February 25th, Resident Evil Revelations 2 hits the digital shelves in North America for $39.99 on Steam. Right before launch, we PC gamers see not only a few interesting pre-order bonuses but also a straight discount that cuts 22% off the MSRP.

Up on Steam right now, you'll see two versions of the game: one straight up called Resident Evil Revelations 2 for $39.99, along with a cheaper "Complete Season" version for $24.99. The way the two versions are titled is almost counterintuitive, because the "Complete Season" actually gets you less content. The more expensive Resident Evil Revelations 2 should really be called the "Complete Edition" – but then again, having two editions of the game with "Complete" in their title would also be confusing.

There are differences between the two, but fortuitously both qualify for the 22% discount. You should know both versions come with all six episodes (4 base game episodes, plus 2 bonus), but the more expensive version of the game gets you more Raid Mode DLC. The differences and discounts for each version are listed below:

Resident Evil Revelations 2

  • Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Steam Key) ? $31.20 at GMG (list $39.99)
  • Use Coupon: CLOUDA-NTSURV-GMGW22
  • Pre-order Bonus: Soundtrack, Mini-Artbook
  • Raid Mode Throwback Map Pack
  • Hunk & Wesker Characters to play in Raid Mode
  • Character Costume Pack

Resident Evil Revelations 2: Complete Season

  • Resident Evil Revelations 2: Complete Season (Steam Key) ? $19.50 at GMG (list $24.99)
  • Use Coupon: CLOUDA-NTSURV-GMGW22
  • Pre-order Bonus: Raid Mode Throwback Map Pack
  • Hunk Character to play in Raid Mode

Note: GMG's 22% off coupon CLOUDA-NTSURV-GMGW22 is a single use discount. If you've already used it or find a better game to use it on, try 20% off coupon KPMN32-6VRM69-6INRND which can be used multiple times.

Essentially the basic game is the same for either version you buy, but the "Raid" mode is where the difference lies. If you are going to pre-order the game, the difference isn't as bad either, since the Complete Season will get the "Raid Mode Throwback Map Pack" that includes a ton of classic levels from older Resident Evil titles. If you do pre-order all you'll be missing out with the Complete Season version is Wesker in Raid mode and a character costume pack – probably not a huge enough difference to sway the budget-conscious. If you do hold off and purchase after the game releases, it does make a little more sense to buy the full $39.99 version and get the Raid Mode Map Pack.

Are there discounts for the Console versions?

The release date on the console version is slightly delayed to March 17th, but fortunately an interesting offer exists for Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers. Pre-order discounts on console games are a rare thing to find these days, but at least there is a bonus offer. Pre-order from the Microsoft Store and get a $10 gift card redeemable on Xbox Live. Better still, pre-order by March 13th and you'll get a guaranteed release day delivery.

  • Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (Xbox One, Xbox 360) ? $39.99 at the Microsoft Store
  • Pre-order Bonus: $10 Xbox Gift Card
  • Free Release Day Delivery if ordered by 2PM Pacific on March 13th
  • Release Date is March 17th

Unfortunately, there is no comparable bonus available for the PS4 or PS3 versions at a major retailer. That said, the way prices drop on video games these days, you can probably just wait 3 months and pick it up on the cheap somewhere.
