Kingdom Hearts has been in a weird spot over the past few years. It's been a decade since the first game in the series made waves in the industry, but we've only been graced with two main series entries. The third is on its way, but we – among others – are concerned about how the story of the game will posture itself.
Many of the Kingdom Hearts games released on handheld platforms have been the subject of multiple storylines. You'll play through the game as a certain character, switching over to a different perspective at some point in the storyline. This has done well for the franchise so far, but I think it's about time for Square Enix to settle down for a short time, sticking with their main character: Sora.
Why do I think this? It's mostly preference, but I also believe that Sora is the lynchpin of the series. We started off with him in first game, and have diverged away from his story quite a bit. If someone has not been following the story laid out in the handheld games, they're probably going to feel very lost. Kingdom Hearts 2 came out in 2005, which means console-only players have been out of the loop for almost a decade.
