As you may have heard, Diablo III and its expansion Reaper of Souls will soon feature microtransactions. Fortunately, if that sounds like a bad idea, you don't have to worry as it'll be limited to the Asian (read: NOT South East Asia and Americas) market, where microtransactions are more popular than full priced games.
On Battle.net, the game's community manager Nevalistis stated that Platinum currency, timed experience boosts, stash space, and character slot expansions, as well as new cosmetic items, will not be included in the upcoming patch for the US/SEA/European/Australian version of the game.
“While the above features will not apply to this region, players will still benefit from some of the quality of life perks tied to these additions, such as a streamlined UI for selecting cosmetic benefits like pets and Collector’s Edition wings,” said Nevalistis.
“We recognize that many players have expressed an interest in microtransactions being added to Diablo 3. While we may explore this model in some regions, we have no immediate plans to implement such purchases anytime soon for the Americas (nor European)region.”
