There is a possibility that the upcoming fighting game from NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat X, may contain microtransactions, but its developers remain unwilling to discuss the matter at the present.
“We are not releasing any details on that yet,” said the studio’s marketing manager Brian Goodman in a recent interview with IGN. “Nothing to say about microtransactions yet.”
An argument could be made that the game could see the implementation of microtransactions in the form of “Koins”, which are in-game currency in Mortal Kombat X. Having microtransactions might allow players to buy packs of Koins instead of earning them normally, through regular gameplay.
Koins allow players to unlock costumes and a host of other things.
Mortal Kombat X is set for release on the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on April 14 worldwide.
