Warner Bros. has confirmed Netherrealm Studios' Mortal Kombat has shipped nearly three million units.
Mortal Kombat, which released back in April, is a reboot of the fighting game series and Warner Bros has said the game's commercial success has even paid for the acquisition of Midway assets; Martin Tremblay said:
We are very pleased with the success of Mortal Kombat so far. With the launch of Mortal Kombat, we have already paid for the acquisition of the Midway assets, and we are just beginning to leverage this acquisition with much more to come.
The next downloadable content for the game is in the form of a character, Freddy Krueger.
