Brian, now of InXile Entertainment, was involved with the franchise from its very inception in1985. While the very first game was mainly designed and programmed by Michael Cranford, Brian helped design the maps for the first two games. He also directed the 3rd game and the 2004 game, which was technically a reboot of the original.
In follow up tweets, Brian confirmed that the game is unconnected to the 2004 reboot and is a continuation of the main series, that he is actually looking into importing game saves from the original games, and that the game won’t be a real time affair. Brian also alluded to InXile working on the game’s atmosphere, indicating they are already well into development, albeit the preliminary stages.
Brian intends to raise the money via Kickstarter, the same way InXile did for the highly successful Wasteland 2, as well as another project in the middle of development, Torment: Tides of Numenera.
