Telltale Games and HBO have finally revealed the first visual trailer for Game of Thrones. Along with this, they have provided an unprecedented thirteen character reveals across different sites. The trailer depicts a menacing Cersei, seemingly talking to Mira Forrester, as well as an unnamed new character, who doesn’t seem to be any of the others introduced. This other bearded man has a sly smile and is shown torturing a man in brief.
We’ll run down each introduced character below.
Lord Gregor is the head of House Forrester, ascending to the position after his father died at Trident. He once arm wrestled Galbert Glover to earn the right to become Galbert’s squire. Galbert joked later that he would willingly lose again.
Elissa was originally born to House Branfield, a minor Southron House that gave way with the fall of the Targaryen dynasty. She was unwillingly wed to Gregor, but he proved to be a kind husband, earning her love and loyalty. Now, she embraces her role as Forrester matriarch and quietly pledged she would not let this family be destroyed.
Ryon is still a total innocent, the youngest of the Forrester brood. At the time of the game, he is old enough to start asking about his father and his brother Rodrik, and why they left home, and that innocence is ready to start fading fast.
Mira is the eldest of the Forrester breed, and was sent to become handmaiden of Margaery Tyrell in Higharden. Her Northern manners have made adapting to court life difficult, but she isn’t lacking in guile to make up for it.
Talia and Ethan are Forrester twins born minutes apart, and when she came out of the womb after Ethan, he stopped crying. Talia has a talent for singing, especially when accompanied by Ethan.
Ethan is a cultured boy, learned in books and music, and sharing a love of Ironrath’s forests with Talia. He and Talia were young when House Forrester joined the War of the Five Kings, and he is set to fill a role he is not quite ready for.
Rodrik is the eldest of his brood, and raised since birth to take the position of leadership. When the War began, however, Lord Gregor told Rodrik to stay and protect Ironrath. Resisting, he proved himself such a serious threat leading the Forrester army that the Lannister soldiers now fear him.
Asher is the black sheep of the family, rebellious and troublesome. He made trouble for Lord Gregor when he fell in with Gwyn Whitehill, the eldest daughter of his father’s rival. Rather than go to full on war, Gregor exiled his son, who now works as a sellsword, quietly trying to forget his past life.
Much like Asher, Malcolm was the black sheep of the Branfields. Unlike Asher, he was irresponsible, but not amoral, preferring to idle his time in the countryside. When the time came, he bravely fought for House Branfield, but went on to become one of its two survivors instead of its savior. He now lives with his sister, Lady Elissa, in Ironrath, although he is known to disappear for stretches of weeks.
Royland is Ironrath’s Master-at-Arms, having proven himself during the siege of Pyke. The Ironborn wiped out his family during Balon Greyjoy’s rebellion, leading him to join Forrester’s army. His grasp of military tactics is as legendary as his temper.
Ortegnryn was originally not supposed to serve the Forresters, but grew to respect their lineage and became a trusted advisor. Prior to this, he studied at the Citadel, hoping to be assigned to the Eyrie when Jon Arryn was murdered.
Duncan is an old friend of Lord Gregor, who grew close with him through time and became a trusted advisor. Upon his ascension, Gregor assigned Duncan to be his Castellan. (NB: a castellan is a governor of a castle.)
Gared is Lord Gregor’s squire and a man with ambitions. A son of a pig farmer, he was given his position when his uncle Duncan interceded on his behalf. However, he hopes to go even further and one day be known as a warrior, and he smells opportunity in the war.
