Steam’s Autumn Sale has apparently been leaked.
A screenshot taken from a Steam Japan mailing claims that the sale will be ongoing from November 27, 3 AM, to December 3, 3 AM.
Valve has yet to announce the sale on their page, but last year’s Autumn sales were on those dates as well, so it is highly likely they aren’t changing it today.
If you look closer at last year’s sales, they offered 9 games each day as a Daily Deal, but also offered time limited flash sales and community choice sales. They were able to offer even recently released games as Call of Duty: Ghosts on sale, so this year might be the same.
However, they might bring back an experiment they conceived of last summer as well: the Steam Summer Adventure competition. Steam users who joined in on the sale were added to one of five teams, and were then compelled to earn trading cards, which can be earned by buying games, as well as voting on and playing them. Every day, the team who wins earns two bonus cards, and its 30 highest ranking winners got three games from their wishlist.
Of course, the problem with that was the community tried to rig the game in their favor. Valve claimed to have turned the mechanics around in turn, so who knows? They might bid to get more games sold again this coming holiday season again.
