Bungie has revealed that they are releasing a limited time free trial for their blockbuster first person shooter Destiny.
If you own a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One, you can download a free trial right now. The trial will keep your save data so that if you decide to upgrade to the full game, it would allow you to pick up where you left off.
Interestingly enough, Bungie has also explained a quirk in the upgrade process. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will have to download or get a disc copy of the full game, but PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners can upgrade without any extra downloads, via the respective console’s digital storefront.
As expected, the trial actually downloads the full 20 GB game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, compared to only 6 GB for PlayStation 3 and Xbox One. The demo also requires sufficient internal storage, so the 12 GB PS3, 4 GB Xbox 360, and Xbox 360 arcade and core models can’t play the demo.
How do you feel with Bungie’s approach with the demo on 8th generation consoles? Would you prefer they also gave those consoles a 6 GB demo to get it more quickly, or that Bungie gave you a choice? Share your thoughts in the comments.
