New intellectual properties are often looked at as the backbone of video games today. While there might be franchises which have already cemented for themselves a very strong legacy – think Uncharted, Halo, etc – the future of video games is promised through bright up and coming developers. Also important are the many independent developers of the video game industry, who strive to create meaningful experiences on tight budgets.
Developer Smilegate will look to contribute their own measure of life to the video game industry, which comes in the form of Lost Ark Online. This title plays a lot like Diablo 3 and features a ton of hack and slash gameplay. However, if that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, don't be perturbed. Lost Ark Online is housed in one of the most beautiful game worlds I think I have ever seen. Considering the number of MMORPGs I have trudged my way through, that's saying quite a lot, really.
An eight minute launch trailer recently made its way on to the web, and details this gorgeous world in vivid detail. We just hope that the game isn't too demanding of PCs, as what makes games like Diablo 3 successful is accessibility. That said, we hope that the game's beauty isn't lost to top-down action sequences. It'd be a shame for these amazing environments to go to waste, given the amount of time and effort that was probably put into crafting them.
