Rumors have been swirling around about the iPhone 5's release date. Some tech websites pegged it as being a September release, but insiders are saying that the new device will be released a month later—in October.
The word on the street originally pinned the iPhone 5's release date in September based on the employee records of AT&T engineers, who've had the last two weeks of September blacked out, presumably in preparation for the launch, but insiders are now saying that we may be looking at the release a month after the rumored date.
Apple's new device is set to offer a new A5 processor, upon which the iPad 2 runs, along with a higher resolution rear camera for better photographs, and GSM/CDMA baseband. Games and other processor-intensive apps will be likely to see the most benefit from the increased processing power.
It remains to be seen as to which of the rumors is correct, but we can rest assured that Apple is coming out with a new device this year. It's simply a matter of when.
