Gearbox shared a sneak preview of Homeworld Remastered to fans at this year’s PAX Australia.
Much of the details of theHomeworld Remastered Collection have already been revealed before, in PAX East earlier this year. Gearbox bought the IP from THQ and set to work to an extensive remaster of the two games. The game has been completely revamped for modern computers, with a new engine, high resolution textures and models, HD cutscenes, enhanced audio, and more.
For this preview, we were shown screenshots of the models, and a before and after comparison of one of the cutscenes. The before and after comparison shows what was previously elegant, hand drawn animation, is now fully rendered CG, that will be fully playable in 4K when you play it in capable PCs.
Gearbox made no mention of their other Homeworld release, Homeworld Shipbreakers, but Gearbox may have simply chosen to stay mum until the collection gets released. Gearbox is also reticent to share a date, but they hope that they have Homeworld Remastered Collection released by February 2015.
