Pokemon can be pretty creepy sometimes. Consider Drifloon, a balloon-shaped Pokemon that, according to the Pokedex, likes to entice children and then steal them away. Or Cubone, who wears the skull of its dead mother as a mask. Then there's the creepypasta, like Pokemon Black — no relation to the Black & White DS combo. Now you can add "comic by Japanese horror manga artist" to that list.
Just in time for Halloween, The Pokemon Company has brought on board Junji Ito to create short but spooky comic tale. For those of you unfamiliar with his work, he's the artist behind a rather famous horror manga called Uzumaki. I will leave it up to you to search the web for page samples (or to hit up your local book store for copies of its English localization). Long story short, it's freaky as all hell — most definitely not something you'd want your kids to read.
So of course he would be perfect to tackle a property beloved by children! From the teaser image above, the story seems like it will focus on the origins of Banette, the cursed doll that was cast aside by its child owner and now seeks revenge. And here we all thought Pokken Tournament was supposed to be the product for the adult Pokemon fan!
Junji Ito's comic should be uploaded to the Pokemon site before the end of the month. I kind of doubt this one will receive an official English translation.
