With the exception of the Call of Duty series, many shooters including Halo Reach, the Gears of War series, and FEAR 3 have allowed players to play the entire single player campaign in cooperative story mode.
Despite demands from its fan base to include a cooperative experience in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Infinity Ward says it has absolutely no plans to change how they design the game's campaigns. The single player campaign will be confined to just that—a single player.
Modern Warfare 3 will feature co-operative mode, but it'll remain the same as previous Modern Warfare titles, and limited to short vignettes rather than a sprawling campaign.
Infinity Ward spokesperson Robert Bowling says that a co-operative campaign is "not for Modern Warfare 3" and reasoned that the studio "designed each mode to have a specific experience."
"Our single player experience has always been designed to be a single cinematic experience," he said. "We wanted that to be a thrill ride for that one player."
