Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford tweeted out a series of messages tonight, detailing how a car bomb threat had been issued to the studio’s offices, which are located in Plano, Texas.
“Someone is out of control! Bomb disposal unit called to Gearbox HQ parking lot to deal with car bomb threat,” wrote Pitchford, who also posted pictures of the bomb disposal robot in action at the Gearbox parking lot.
“The Plano PD was so professional, they did not disclose details,” he explained. “I did *not* call in the threat and am still unsure of what happened.
“Just started my car to drive it home and my mind's eye flashed every film I've ever seen where the car blows up when started.”
The Plano Police Department has not issued any official statements regarding the bomb threat as of this time.
It is unclear whether the bomb threat has anything to do with the recent hoax attack threats on a games company executive and a prominent YouTuber, or a bomb scare that targeted prominent feminist video game critic Anita Sarkeesian in March, 2014 at the Game Developers Choice Awards (Kotaku).
