The Evil Within Requires 40 GB of Hard Drive Space on PS4, Xbox One

September 25, 2014 by Tony Ponce

PS3 and Xbox 260 versions only demand a relatively modest 7 GB.

Got room for more survival horror in your life? No? Well then, you better clear up a lot of space, because Bethesda has just announced the hard drive requirements for next month's The Evil Within. On PS4 and Xbox One, installing the game onto your console demands a chunky 40 GB. On the PC, it'll only occupy 41 GB, but the initial install file is a massive 50 GB. If you're still rocking PS3 or Xbox 360, you'll only need 7 GB, but unfortunately, the last-gen versions require a mandatory install even if you purchase a physical copy.

Just yesterday, we shared a little behind-the-scenes look at this, the freshman offering of developer Tango Gameworks. Famed gaming personality was available to chat with director and company founder Shinji Mikami, who is best known for creating Capcom's Resident Evil franchise.

The Evil Within arrives on October 14 for Windows, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
